Can Helicobacter pylori be cured?
pylori treatment usually includes several medicines. At least two of the medicines are antibiotics that help to kill the bacteria. The other medication causes the stomach to make less acid; lower acid levels help the ulcer to heal. Most people are cured after finishing two weeks of medicine.
What happens when you have Helicobacter pylori?
Besides ulcers, H pylori bacteria can also cause a chronic inflammation in the stomach (gastritis) or the upper part of the small intestine (duodenitis). H pylori can also sometimes lead to stomach cancer or a rare type of stomach lymphoma.
Can Helicobacter be serious?
It can cause open sores called peptic ulcers in your upper digestive tract. It can cause stomach cancer. It may be passed or spread from person to person by mouth, such as by kissing. It may also be passed by direct contact with vomit or stool.
